Jo Knight from Dover was diagnosed with ER positive, HER2 negative breast cancer in May 2017. Having had not much hair since chemotherapy over 6 years ago, Jo was recently told by a specialist trichologist that it was never going to grow back properly.

Following her mastectomy, Jo started her Instagram page @tit_less_wonder to show women that there is life after breast cancer and to empower and offer advice to women after diagnosis. Alongside this, Jo also set up ‘Preloved Reloved- Cancer & Beyond’ @prelovedrel0ved to help others going through treatment by receiving items including wigs, which Jo recycles and passes onto others, all free of charge.
Jo’s Hair loss transformation, which was led by Novo Cabelo founder Rob Wood, Hair Transformation Specialist, Jack Mead, Kate Hughes Make Up and Artero Hair Tools, saw support and comments explode across Instagram and TikTok, with views currently sitting at over 1 million across content collaborations.

Joss Stone recently featured on the charity single, Golden which was performed by the Change + Check choir, a campaign very close to her heart after Jo’s breast cancer journey.

Jo said, “When Rob from Novo Cabelo contacted me and offered me a full hair system, I jumped at the chance! The whole team have been amazing from Kate Hughes Make Up for beautifying me, to Rob and Jack fitting and styling the hair system, I’m very grateful to the team for such an amazing opportunity.”
Jo added:
“It’s going to take time for me to adjust and learn to live with hair again, especially after so long being without it.
I assumed my hair would grow back after chemotherapy, but I discovered I have PCIA (persistent chemotherapy induced alopecia) which I’ve discovered is why my hair does not grow back properly, due to the type of chemotherapy I had.
My health is so important to me and for me personally it doesn’t matter that I don’t have hair, but it can have a big impact on other women whose hair is their crown and glory, it can be devastating.
I’m a huge advocate for body positivity and not having hair, or breasts doesn’t define me. However, Rob said something to me, and it really stuck me – ‘you deserve to have hair’ and after everything I’ve been through, I actually do deserve to have hair.
There will be times when I choose not to wear it, I would still like to wear my headscarf and I might even go shorter – who knows! But for now, I’m going to embrace it like my baldness.”
